There are loads of trendy cafes in Tarragindi and I have eaten at all of them. I love being able to pop down the road for a coffee (or chai latte) and a snack for morning tea while I pull out my laptop and answer emails or have lunch with a client or work colleague, and there are definitely some tasty options in Tarragindi. Below are my favourites cafes in Tarragindi.
1. BRUNOS CAFE
Bruno's is situated on Cracknell Rd, next to the Shaftesbury Park in Tarragindi, and is very convenient to drop into on your early morning walk around the park. The menu here is excellent and I have eaten here many times. The best place to sit is at the back of the cafe, which overlooks the parklands and is perfect for your morning breakfast or lunch.
They have an awesome menu with items rotating regularly. They also have all the usual coffees, teas, hot chocolates and juices available as well. They do lunch specials on weekends and Brunos also has a liquor licence enabling them to serve beer and wine with your lunch.
Once you've finished your meal, you can head next door to the playground to play in the park with the kids, take your dog to the dog park up the road, pop in for a massage at Skin Spirit Day Spa, a haircut at the hairdresser or browse in the other shops in the area as well.
Bruno's is open 7 days a week from 6am-2pm Monday to Friday and 7am-2.30pm on weekends.
2. ESHER ST CAFE
Esher St Cafe and Bar is a trendy, (Greek) family run cafe with multiple seating areas including a brand new alfresco area out the back and a pet-friendly seating area out the front of the cafe as well.
They also have a counter in the centre of the cafe displaying beautiful cakes and slices, a unique line of gifts in store that you can purchase while you're sipping your coffee, and a deli on-site with a range of gourmet produce available from local producers.
Their menu consists of awesome breakfasts like beetroot and haloumi wraps, avocado smashes, home made muesli, Mexican bean salsa with eggs, Canadian pancakes and much much more. They also offer home made lunches that are also very tasty!
They are located on Esher St, Tarragindi and are open 7 days a week from 6am-4pm weekdays and 6am-3pm weekends.
3. UMU KITCHEN
Umu Kitchen is located on the corner of Denham Terrace and Toohey Road in Tarragindi. The food here is fresh and tasty and the staff are all very friendly and professional. Umu serves high quality coffee with gourmet foods and mouthwatering desserts, including vegan and gluten free options.
Umu has a trendy decor featuring objects from nature, large hanging light bulbs and an awesome feature wall with leaf decal. They also have a small community notice board as you walk into the cafe. You can choose to sit inside the cafe, or out in the open-air out the front. You will also find a second Tarragindi Free Library located out on their back deck.
Umu Kitchen is open 7 days a week. Monday to Friday from 6am-4pm and weekends from 6am-3pm.
4. BLACK LAB COFFEE
Black Lab Coffee is a pet friendly coffee shop with a really funky instagram page. You can order just about any kind of coffee there, as well as a home made muffin or snack on the run. There is a seating area off to the left where you can wait for a cute pooch to enter and maybe get a couple of pats in.
Black Lab Coffee raise money for animal rescue groups, support animal adoptions, and promote responsible pet ownership. They also help to promote local artists in the area and have even held an art show there, featuring paintings of dogs - of course!
They are located at 6/11 Kuring Gai Avenue, Tarragindi and are open 7 days a week from 5.30am-1pm Monday to Saturdays and from 7am-1pm on Sundays.
5. CAFE O MAI
Ok, so it's not technically in Tarragindi, but Cracknell Rd runs through Tarragindi, so I'm going to give it some leeway even though it's actually in Annerley because they serve some of the best food in the area. Cafe O Mai is a quirky little Vietnamese cafe which offers authentic food as well as your traditional Aussie meals. I love the decor here and the food is amazing!
Apart from serving the best Vietnamese food, (including the best pho I have ever tasted!) they also make coffee (including a slow drip gourmet blend - try the Vietnamese iced coffee - it's delicious!) teas, chais, milkshakes, and they also have a juice bar and bake their cakes, slices, biscuits and muffins on site. They support the environment by using metal straws in the cafe instead of adding to landfill by supplying plastic straws and they also have a liquor licence so you can have a cold beer, wine or cocktail with your lunch.
Cafe O Mai is located at 15 Cracknell Rd, Annerley and are open for breakfast from 6.30am tues - friday and 7am weekends until 3pm weekdays and 2pm weekends. They also have a takeaway menu available for when you need to eat on the run!
6. TODD & PUP
Also not technically in Tarragindi, Todd & Pup deserves a mention as well, as they have the best muffins in the area! Take a look at their Facebook page for their muffin of the day specials. Their coffees and chai lattes are also lovely too.
Todd & Pupp are located at 398 Tarragindi Rd, Moorooka and are open 7 days a week - Monday to Friday from 6am-2pm and weekends from 7am-2pm.
I hope this list of the best cafes in Tarragindi has helped you to decide where to go for your next lunch or coffee meeting. Who knows - I may even see you there! Please feel free to leave a comment if you also enjoy frequenting any of the cafes that I'm mentioned.
