Have you taken the time to explore Toohey Forest yet? Tarragindi has one of the best bushwalking areas in Brisbane. There are many walking tracks to help keep you and your family fit. There are also BBQ areas and picnic spots dotting the area which you can utilise after your hike. You can even take your four legged friend along with you. EXPLORING TOOHEY FORESTToohey Forest is split by Toohey Road with the majority of the forest being on the Eastern side near Griffith University. I recently decided to explore the Western side of the Forest, as I was short on time and just wanted to do a quick walk to see what the Forest looked like inside. Electric BBQ areas dot the area and are the perfect spot for family lunches. There are covered tables and chairs that provide shade on hot summer days and grassed areas for the kids to kick a ball around afterwards. The Tarragindi Water Reservoir can also been seen on one of the tracks. Directional signboards with measurements are posted throughout the Forest so it's quite hard to loose your way. Most of the tracks cross over each other and loop around the area, making it perfect for exploring without getting lost. Along my walk, I found these rocks in multiple areas that I'm assuming kids have stacked up, which I thought were pretty cool. I like the fact that kids can explore the Forest and get creative amongst nature. There are also water bubblers in multiple parts of the Forest which include small drinking bowls for your four legged friends. I'm sure some of the native animals in the area use them too. At the end of the track, I was greeted by this stunning view over Salisbury and surrounding areas, where you can sit on the bench seat and just enjoy the view before walking back to the car park. The Western side of Toohey Forest is an enjoyable walk when you're short on time. If you're after a longer walk though, I would suggest entering the Forest on the Eastern side near the University and doing one of the longer trails.
