Have you ever wanted to learn to stand up paddle board? Do you own a kayak and wish you could get out on the water more often? I've created a group for like-minded people, who live on the South side of Brisbane, who want to meet up to go paddle boarding or kayaking together.
THE SOUTHSIDE PADDLE GROUP
The Southside Paddle Group aims to meet once a month and goes to places like Raby Bay, the Manly/Wynnum foreshore, Wellington Point, Currumbin Creek, Tallebudgera Creek, The Spit, Redcliffe, Lake Moogerah, Noosa or Byron Bay where members can paddle together in a group and relax amongst friends.
We usually organise a morning out for a paddle to the above locations, but as the group grows in numbers and we have interest, we may even organise weekends away together. There are a mixture of outings which are family friendly (where you can bring kids along) and others which are for adults only.
If you're just starting out and don't own a SUP board or kayak yet, you can join in on an outing to a location where you can hire paddle boards and kayaks, such as Currumbin Creek or Raby Bay, where you can hire a board for approx. $20-25 per hour, depending on the location.
If you would like to join the group, and go on regular outings, you can do so here: www.facebook.com/groups/southsidepaddlegroup
It costs nothing to join the group and you can ask other members questions about good locations to go to, or what type of gear people have, or even post equipment to sell to other group members. It's a great place to meet new friends and enjoy nature at the same time.
